Ne-Yo – Year of the Gentleman – Ne-Yo

An Ordinary Joe here, with the Ordinary Joe Blog’s official review of Ne-Yo’s third studio album “Year of the Gentleman

The album opens with Billboard Hot 100’s #7 track, first single “Closer”, “I just can’t stop/ I just can’t stop…” It seems Ne-yo is on a roll; being one of the biggest writers in the R&B World and moving full throttle with his own career.

Lyrical content, albeit the luxury it is in today’s musical world, can always be expected from Ne-Yo.

Three executives dubbed "Germany's stupidest bankers", should be w@nkers, in the press have been suspended from state bank KfW over erroneous transfers of more than 500 million euros (710 million dollars) to the bankrupt Lehman Brothers, the KfW said.

Two board members and a top risk control manager were suspended "pending final clarification of the incident" following a meeting of KfW's supervisory board meeting attended by top ministers including Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck, the bank said in a statement late Thursday.

A law firm has also been hired to see if further "consequences" are appropriate and the bank, already under fire over its rescue of IKB -- Germany's biggest casualty of the subprime crisis -- will subject its business procedures, especially those of risk management, to an "in-depth audit."

15th September 2008 : 50 and Kanye Back At It

Kanye West & 50 Cent - Album Battle - Kanye West & 50 Cent

Kanye West & 50 Cent

Remember the Album Sales Battle Kanye West and 50 Cent had last year? Well another round may be on the way...

The two rappers are once again allegedly in a SoundScan battle. On September 11th of last year they both dropped albums, however Kanye’s thumped 50’s most notably. The quality, diversity and content of “Graduation”, Kanye’s third album, were much to be admired and remembered. On the other hand, I did enjoy rockin’ away to hits like “I Get Money” and “Ayo Technology” but let’s face it; there probably wasn’t a real competition there. 50 showed some grace on “Curtis” by featuring Justin Timberlake in a song, but Kanye drew in talent from many genres even Techno (“Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”). It seems this is what music-lovers look for today.

13th September 2008 : Exterminate everyone....except him

Exterminate everyone....except him !!!

dalek

There was a documentary on the other night, summarising the considerable efforts that humanity has made over the past few decades to find ET. It was all very upbeat, loads of clever bastards telling me how it was inevitable that contact would happen one day and that this was likely to be within the next 10 years or so. In truth, a bit dull and whilst I have no doubt that we are not alone, none of what was being said was particularly new and certainly didn’t warrant the enthusiasm that the various experts exuded. That said, my attention was held (through repeat footage of Martian landscapes and those oh so boring thermal vents) by the promise that the star of the show (and one of my heroes) Mr Stephen Hawkin, would be along to say something at the end. I was expecting his opinion to be definitive and I guess, in a way, it was.

‘We shouldn’t be looking for alien life forms, we should be…yeah John, drop off and pick up outside the Big Mango, over…be keeping our heads down and hoping that they don’t find us. Sorry about the interference there.’

No science trickery, no super hypothesis, just plain old common sense. And let’s face it, if Hawkin is scared, shouldn’t we be scared too? After all, when the Daleks eventually find us, he already speaks the lingo. All he needs is a bin bag and some bottle tops and he’ll probably be okay.
