Charlie Sidey (Charles Robert Sidey)

Charlie Sidey was born in May 1959 at Farnborough, in Kent, England and was educated in Blackheath, London and Salamanca, Spain.

• Employed originally as a settlements clerk by Richardson Greenshields of Canada, Charlie moved on to futures broking after a thorough grounding in the settlements procedures of all the financial and commodity instruments traded in the early 1980s.
• Charlie moved to Tullett & Tokyo Futures at the time of the 1987 crash and was there until 1995, building a broking team which had amongst its clientele some major currency trading funds. Charlie nurtured many of these funds from inception to become extremely successful, attracting large institutional investment. His clientele included large financial institutions and funds as well as high-net worth individuals.

• In June 1995, Charlie joined CAGF (later named Bank Austria Creditanstalt Futures) when it was founded as broking manager, heading a team of office brokers, while continuing with his diversified client portfolio. The product spread was equally diversified but concentrated on Foreign Exchange in its many guises (futures, options, cash, margin trading etc.)
• In early 1999 Bank Austria ceased their futures operation and Charlie decided to try life the other side of the fence, actively trading futures, options and equities. Charlie combined his trading with writing and consultancy work, drawing on his 20 years of experience in the industry.

• Charlie has been a regular contributor to a wide range of publications both in print and on-line, and is the author of “Single Stock Futures: A Traders Guide” published by Wiley in 2003. Writing and business activities have taken up more and more of his time, but Charlie is still active in trading the markets.
• His latest project sees him busy writing a series of books related to foreign exchange and trading philosophy.
