Dave the Gooner has entered the debate on Wad Blog. In his opinion, the real strength of commercialised blogs is their ability to hit a clearly defined target demographic. A large number of hits, although possibly desirable does not necessarily translate into good business.

His argument is logical, well laid out and definitely worth a look.

30th January 2006 : The Genesis of Big Blog Media

An interesting article on Wadblog this week. Dave Ward, the founder of Big Blog Media writes about his approach to setting up a Blog Network. Unlike other networks, which tend begin with a group of good writers but limited technical knowledge, he's used personal experience and his technical knowhow as the backbone to BBN.

The idea being that a professional platform will, with time, attract quality writers. Follow his progress here and at Wadblog.com

Dave, The Gooner started this site on his own with $1,000. He knew it would be difficult but dived in headlong, anyway.

Well he's staged a bit of a coup by snagging media expert James Butterworth, ex of Granada TV, 20th Century Fox and FilmNet.

As Dave says “I think that if I want to create a network that is going to be taken seriously then I need the right people”. We think he’s done it. More here
